Thai Tea Culture
The Thai food craze in America is partly fueled by the sweet, delicious iced tea beverages served in all Thai restaurants. These iced drinks include Thai iced tea, Thai iced coffee, and bubble tea. Thai iced tea is a sweet, creamy, strong tea drink poured over a full glass of crushed ice. Ingredients always include sugar and evaporated milk. In Thailand, Thai iced tea is made with Anise and other spices.
Bubble tea is another popular cold drink found in Thai restaurants in both the US and Thailand. It is basically a sweet, cold drink served in many fruit flavors, poured over nearly freezing tapioca starch beads about the size of green peas. Bubble tea straws are very large, large enough for the tapioca beads to flow through.
